The hotel has hosted numerous VIPs over the years, including Giuseppe Verdi, Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, and other luminaries from the opera world. The Don Carlos fine-dining restaurant is named after the Verdi opera. The Caruso restaurant offers a more casual ambience. Both provide outdoor seating during the warmer months.

The Grand Hotel et de Milan was recommended because it was very close to La Scala and also because it had been the home (temporarily) for Caruso, Maria Callas and Verdi (among others). This was certainly appealing to an opera fan who was also going to attend an event at La Scala. I was rewarded with not only the proximity..

This was my 3rd stay at the hotel. I always feel welcome, the rooms are charming and the staff amazing. They even have ETRO everything (slippers, shampoo, soaps...). But most importantly is the location, location, location. I'm going again Jan 2011 and would not consider staying anywhere else!

I booked the hotel because it was a Leading Hotel and typically one cannot miss with a Leading Hotel. I was right on....I had four travelers at this hotel, all of them VIP's and this was going to be their first stay. The price was very reasonable for Italy, and the location right where they needed to be.
