Dining
Gallia's Restaurant - On the ground floor, this grand, marble-floored restaurant has heavy gold drapes at the tall, floor to ceiling windows and walls paneled in blue and gold fabric. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A monthly seasonal menu features the best of local produce while an à la carte selection offers traditional Lombardy dishes, such as Milanese veal cutlet.
Baboon Bar - Dark wooden paneling is highlighted by colorful Art Deco glass mosaics in the non-smoking bar. A smoking section is adjacent in the lounge, where guests can enjoy an Excelsior cocktail on the comfortable sofas and armchairs beside a trompe l'oeil carnival scene. As well as premier cru champagnes, the bar serves sandwiches, salads, tea, and coffee.

Piazza Duca D'Aosta 9Is this the epitome of Claridge style luxury? No. Is this a beautiful art-deco style hotel with an impressive lobby, large guest rooms and excellent location for a weekend visit? Yes. Ok, the rooms are maybe a tiny bit worn, but this is an old building and I personally adore 1920's / 30's decor.

As a frequent traveller, I have never bothered to write hotel reviews, but I feel I should redress the negative comments made. The reviews of this hotel were so bad, I was not looking forward to staying there. However, what a pleasant surprise, there is nothing wrong with this hotel. It was spotless, very elegant, comfortable and well maintained.

This is a grand hotel, the type where good old fashioned service counts. It's set on the Piazza Duca (it was used as a base for the Clive Owen / Julia Robert movie 'the international) which is nearby the main trainstation. It is also one of the Hop On Hop Off tour stops.
